SHOPLINE Integration

Connect BlogSEO to your SHOPLINE store to automatically publish AI-generated articles to your store's blog, and to feature your real products inside that content. It connects through the BlogSEO app for SHOPLINE: you approve its permissions once in SHOPLINE, and there are no API keys to create or copy.

Requirements

Before connecting your SHOPLINE store, make sure you have:

  • A SHOPLINE store (your-store.myshopline.com). It doesn't need a blog yet: BlogSEO can create one for you.
  • Access to the store's SHOPLINE admin with permission to install apps: the store owner, or a staff account the owner has given app permissions.
  • A BlogSEO account where you are an admin or owner of the website that will receive the store. If you don't have one yet, you can create it while installing the app.

Connecting your store

You can start from either side. A SHOPLINE store can be connected to one BlogSEO website at a time, and a BlogSEO website to one SHOPLINE store.

From the SHOPLINE App Store

  1. Install the BlogSEO app from the SHOPLINE App Store.
  2. Review the permissions SHOPLINE shows you and approve them.
  3. BlogSEO opens and asks you to log in, or to create a BlogSEO account.
  4. Confirm which BlogSEO website should receive the store.

If you created your BlogSEO account during the install, open the BlogSEO app again from your SHOPLINE admin (Apps → BlogSEO) to finish connecting your store.

From your BlogSEO dashboard

  1. In your BlogSEO dashboard, go to Integrations → SHOPLINE and click Connect SHOPLINE.
  2. Enter your store address, either your-store or your-store.myshopline.com, and click Continue to SHOPLINE. Custom domains don't work here, even if your storefront uses one.
  3. SHOPLINE asks you to approve the app's permissions. Sign in to your SHOPLINE admin first if it asks you to.
  4. You're sent back to BlogSEO with your store connected.

The app asks to read your store information (its name, domain, and currency), to read and write your online store's blog content, and to read your products. Granting these lets BlogSEO publish your articles, create a blog if you need one, and import your catalog.

Articles are generated with your BlogSEO plan, which is billed by BlogSEO.

Choosing the blog

Once your store is connected, BlogSEO needs to know which blog to publish to. In SHOPLINE, each blog is a blog category (Online Store → Blog → Manage blog categories).

  • If your store has exactly one blog, BlogSEO picks it automatically.
  • Otherwise, click Update Configuration on the SHOPLINE integration page, choose the blog or click Create a new blog, and click Save. A new blog's title shows on your storefront, so name it the way you want readers to see it.

Until a blog is chosen, the integration shows Setup Required and nothing is published. The same window also sets the author name shown on your posts, which defaults to your store name.

Publishing content

You have two options for publishing articles to SHOPLINE:

  1. Auto-publish (on by default): BlogSEO publishes new articles to your SHOPLINE blog automatically. Turn it off on the SHOPLINE integration page if you prefer to publish each article yourself.
  2. Manual publish: from the dashboard, open a generated article and click Publish → Publish to SHOPLINE.

BlogSEO handles the publishing details for you:

  • Article content: the full article is published as HTML in the post body.
  • SEO title and meta description: written to the post's Search Engine Optimization fields in SHOPLINE.
  • URL handle: taken from the article's slug, which you can edit in BlogSEO before the first publication. The handle is set when the article is first published, so later slug edits in BlogSEO don't move the live post.
  • Cover image: set as the post's cover image, with its alt text.
  • Summary: the post's summary (its Overview in SHOPLINE) comes from the article's meta description.
  • Author: posts are published under the author name from the integration's configuration, your store name by default.
  • Tags: added only when your Field Mapping Instructions ask for them. You write these free-text instructions under Advanced settings in Update Configuration, for example "Add two or three topic tags to each post".
  • Updates: re-publishing an article, or clicking Sync to CMS after editing it, updates the same post instead of creating a duplicate. If the post was deleted in SHOPLINE, the next sync creates it again.

Draft mode

When draft mode (Publish in draft) is enabled, BlogSEO creates posts as Hidden in SHOPLINE, so they are only visible in your admin. Review them under Online Store → Blog, and publish a post by choosing Publish in its Publish a blog section and saving. Until then, BlogSEO shows the article as Published in Draft, and it switches the article to Published automatically once you publish the post in SHOPLINE.

Products

BlogSEO imports your SHOPLINE product catalog so it can mention and hyperlink your real products inside articles, and feature their images in your article visuals.

Each synced product carries its title, description, main image, price (the lowest price among its variants, in your store's currency), product page URL, vendor, category, and SKU straight from SHOPLINE. Only active products are imported, and products you remove from your store are archived on the next sync, so your catalog stays in step with your store. The first sync runs when you connect; re-import at any time with the Sync products button. See the Products feature for how the catalog works, how products are chosen, and how to control which ones get used.

If your store changes often, turn on Daily automatic sync on the SHOPLINE integration page and BlogSEO refreshes the catalog every night instead of waiting for you to press the button. The switch appears once a blog is chosen. It is off by default, and only group admins and owners can change it. See keeping your catalog in sync automatically.

Uninstalling or disconnecting

BlogSEO renews your store's access token automatically, so the connection keeps working without you approving anything again.

Removing the BlogSEO app from SHOPLINE

If you remove the BlogSEO app from your store (in your SHOPLINE admin, go to Apps, open the three-dot menu next to BlogSEO and choose App removal), publishing stops immediately and the SHOPLINE integration in BlogSEO shows Expired. To restore it, install the app again or click Reconnect SHOPLINE on the SHOPLINE integration page, and approve the permissions in SHOPLINE. When you reinstall the app and BlogSEO asks which website should receive the store, the website it was connected to is already selected.

If the app is still uninstalled 48 hours later, SHOPLINE asks BlogSEO to delete your store's data, and BlogSEO deletes the connection and the imported products. Reinstalling or reconnecting before then keeps them and your settings. The posts already published stay in your store.

Deleting the integration in BlogSEO

Deleting the integration (Delete Integration in the Danger Zone of the SHOPLINE integration page) stops publishing and keeps the posts already published in your store. The BlogSEO app stays installed in your SHOPLINE admin, so remove it there too if you no longer need it.

Troubleshooting

My store address is not accepted

Enter your store's handle, the your-store part of your-store.myshopline.com, or the whole your-store.myshopline.com address. You can see it in your browser's address bar when you are in your SHOPLINE admin. A custom domain such as www.yourbrand.com doesn't work here, even if your storefront uses one, because BlogSEO needs the myshopline.com address to find your store.

The store or the website is already connected

A SHOPLINE store can be connected to one BlogSEO website at a time, and a BlogSEO website to one SHOPLINE store.

  • This website is already connected to another SHOPLINE store: to switch stores, click Delete Integration in the Danger Zone of the SHOPLINE integration page, then connect the new store. The posts already published to the first store stay there.
  • This SHOPLINE store is already connected to another BlogSEO website: an admin of the website that has the store needs to delete its SHOPLINE integration first. Then connect the store from the website you want. If that website belongs to another BlogSEO account, log in with that account to delete the integration, or contact us for help.

The integration shows Setup Required

BlogSEO doesn't know which blog to publish to yet, so nothing is published. Click Update Configuration on the SHOPLINE integration page, choose a blog or click Create a new blog, and click Save.

Published posts don't appear on my storefront

  • Draft mode: with Publish in draft on, posts are created Hidden. Publish them in your SHOPLINE admin under Online Store → Blog.
  • Development store: SHOPLINE development stores are password-protected, so their storefront, blog included, only shows after you enter the store password.
  • Theme navigation: if the post is listed under Online Store → Blog but your storefront has no link to the blog, add the blog to your theme's navigation menu.

The integration shows Expired

The BlogSEO app was uninstalled from your store, or its access to the store was revoked, so publishing has stopped. Click Reconnect SHOPLINE on the SHOPLINE integration page, or install the app again from the SHOPLINE App Store, and approve the permissions in SHOPLINE. Within 48 hours of an uninstall, reconnecting restores your settings and publishing resumes. If you aren't an admin of the website, ask one of its admins to reconnect the store.

Product access required

BlogSEO can't read your products because the products permission is missing. Click Re-authorize in the Product import section of the SHOPLINE integration page, approve the permissions in SHOPLINE, then click Sync products. Do the same if a sync fails with SHOPLINE refused to list products. If you aren't an admin of the website, ask one of its admins to re-authorize the app.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need API keys to connect SHOPLINE?
No. You install the BlogSEO app and approve its permissions in SHOPLINE, and BlogSEO renews the store's access automatically. There are no API keys or tokens to create, copy, or refresh.

Does BlogSEO host my blog, or do I publish to my own SHOPLINE store?
BlogSEO does not host your articles. It writes the content and publishes it to your own SHOPLINE store's blog, so every article lives on your store's domain.

Can I review articles before they go live on SHOPLINE?
Yes. Turn on draft mode (Publish in draft) and posts are created Hidden in SHOPLINE, so you can review them under Online Store → Blog and publish them when ready. BlogSEO then switches the article to Published automatically. You can also turn off Auto-publish and publish each article yourself with Publish → Publish to SHOPLINE.

Can I choose which SHOPLINE blog to publish to?
Yes. Choose the blog, which SHOPLINE calls a blog category, in Update Configuration on the SHOPLINE integration page, or create a new one from there. If your store has a single blog, BlogSEO picks it for you.

Can BlogSEO use my real SHOPLINE products in articles?
Yes. With the Products feature, BlogSEO imports your active SHOPLINE products and can mention and hyperlink them inside articles, and feature their images in your article visuals. You choose which products are eligible.

Does BlogSEO set the SEO title and meta description of my SHOPLINE posts?
Yes. Each post gets the article's SEO title and meta description in its Search Engine Optimization fields in SHOPLINE, along with a URL handle from the article's slug and the cover image with its alt text.

What happens if I uninstall the BlogSEO app from SHOPLINE?
Publishing stops immediately and the SHOPLINE integration in BlogSEO shows Expired. Reinstalling the app, or clicking Reconnect SHOPLINE in BlogSEO, restores it. If the app is still uninstalled 48 hours later, SHOPLINE asks BlogSEO to delete your store's data, and BlogSEO deletes the connection and the imported products. Reinstalling or reconnecting before then keeps them and your settings. The posts already published stay in your store.

Will any BlogSEO branding show up in my SHOPLINE store?
No. Posts are published under the author name you choose, your store name by default, and BlogSEO adds nothing about itself to your posts. If you create a new blog from BlogSEO, your storefront shows the title you give it. BlogSEO only appears as an installed app in your SHOPLINE admin.
